At the state level, the office deals with operating and capital budget issues as well as a broad range of legislative policy issues related to higher education. At the national level, the office works with members of Â鶹AV’s Congressional Delegation to advocate for the Â鶹AV’s federal priorities.
Located across from the Â鶹AV State House in Annapolis, the office of government relations works to ensure that the Â鶹AV’s priorities are shared with key policy leaders. The office also keeps the Â鶹AV community informed of important issues and assists faculty, staff and students with legislative advocacy.
As legislative issues arise that either support and further Â鶹AV policies and goals or run counter to them, the government relations office assists in the identification of these issues and provides advice to the Â鶹AV Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, Â鶹AV Presidents, faculty, staff and students.
The Â鶹AV State Relations Council is comprised of a representative from each of the Â鶹AV member institutions as well as Â鶹AV government relations staff. The council meets every Friday during the legislative session and periodically during the interim to collaborate on higher education policy issues. Institution-specific issues are pursued by the institutional representatives with assistance and support from Â鶹AV government relations staff.
This site is designed to help inform those interested in the legislative issues affecting the Â鶹AV and the broader higher education community.
